Hearing Aid Styles

Sydney Hearing Specialists offer a variety of hearing aid styles to choose from, depending on your hearing loss and needs.

Behind the Ear

Behind the Ear (BTE) devices are available in different sizes, depending on the power required for your hearing loss.

They are suitable for mild to profound hearing losses.

BTE devices are considered to be the most robust hearing aid styles and often have the easiest on-board buttons to manage.

Bluetooth/Made for iPhone and rechargeable features are optional.

Receiver in the Ear

Receiver in the Ear (RITEs) are the most popular hearing aid style.

They are suited for people with mild to severe hearing loss and are very discreet on the ear.

All RITEs have Bluetooth/Made for iPhone capabilities and are available in both disposable battery and rechargeable models.

In the Ear

In the Ear (ITEs) devices are the largest custom made devices.

They are suitable for mild to severe hearing losses.

ITEs are often easier to manage due to their size and larger battery, and can be a good option for people with vision and/or dexterity issues.

Bluetooth/Made for iPhone features are optional.

In the Canal (ITC) devices are smaller than ITE hearing aids, but are still visible in the ear.

They are suitable for mild to severe hearing loss.

Bluetooth/Made for iPhone features are available.

Completely in the Canal

Completely in the Canal (CIC) are smaller than ITC aids. They sit deeper in the ear canal and, depending on the ear shape, can be barely visible.

They are suited for people with mild to severe hearing loss.

Due to their small size, Bluetooth/Made for iPhone features are not available in all models.

Invisible in the Canal

Invisible in the Canal (IIC) hearing aids are designed to be hidden and are the smallest hearing aids in the market.

Due to their small size, they are only suitable for mild to moderate hearing losses and require excellent vision and dexterity to manage them.
